Credits

I was new to the state of Louisiana my senior year in high school and was told by my counselor that I only needed 2 credits to graduate,I have now graduated and applied to a local college.I received a letter from the college today saying I do not have enough credits to be eligible, I need one more credit in either math or science. How is that possible that I had enough to graduate high school but not enough to go to college? The answer may be obvious but I am lost...

Colleges set their own rules and can differ from high schools. Also, are the credits in the correct courses? Many places require 4 years of English, 4 of Math, 4 of Science, 3 of Social Studies, 2 of Foreign Languages (same language), etc. Perhaps you were lacking one of those even if your total number was correct?

I know at our local public school kids need 28 credits to graduate, and most have to be in specific areas. It does match or exceed state college requirements, but that doesn’t mean every place does the same.

This is the case in many states. While HS may require you pass and recieve only two sci credits, colleges require you have three to admit you.

While colleges have varying requirements, your counselor is probably giving you the general admission requirements.
