I am living off campus, and I need help deciding between Creekside and Greystone. I would especially love an opinion from someone who has lived in one of these places! I am OOS, and I haven’t seen either in person.

Creekside is a high end community for students only–I would be living in a 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath townhouse with 3 other roommates. Full size kitchen, washer and dryer in unit, great amenities, awesome pool. 1.2 miles to campus on a busy road; I would have to rely on Tiger Transit to get to campus. Move in date is halfway through rush, so I would have to stay in a hotel the first few days.

Greystone is an all girls private dorm located about a 10-15 minute walk from campus. Nice enough, but it is a traditional dorm. 70% freshman which would be more comfortable for me.

Please help!

How much is rent per semester at Creekside… if you don’t mind me asking?! I’m trying to weigh my options as well and I don’t think they have that information on their website.

Tiger transit does not run on saturdays so you cannot rely on that to get to campus for the football games. Also, tiger transit stops running to campus after 6pm on weeknights. However, the transit goes to the apartments from campus till late at night. Does Creekside have thier own transit system? It is so much better to be on campus freshman year.

Thank you so much for your opinions. I actually had to make the decision before anyone posted, and I chose Creekside. The more I learn, the more I question if Creekside is right for me. Right now I am dealing with a terrible roommate situation, and the property manager has been very rude and unwilling to help. I would honestly go somewhere else if I could, but we have already signed the lease, and I’m sure Greystone is full by now.

Once you sign the contract, it’s pretty impossible to get out of it. (Unless you sublet the unit yourself without their knowledge – tends to be risky if you don’t already know or can’t screen your renter)

Did they (Creekside) place you with your roommates? Did they offer a legitimate matching service? If they did, you may be able to negotiate a switch with someone else in the complex. If they don’t want to help, you may be able to find someone via facebook through their facebook page who has the same type of unit and same monthly rate who is willing to switch. If your roommate situation is truly terrible, Creekside might be willing to help if you were open to a unit that costs more per month (unfortunately, money talks). Since I’m not familiar with the differences in their monthly rates, I can’t really say if this is completely unrealistic, but if you can’t find someone willing to switch with you, you may want to talk to your parents and see if upgrading is at all possible.
