Hi,
I am an international student, and I am really bad at Critical Reading. I have taken 12-13 practice tests already, but all in vain. I cannot score more than 550. I want to score at least 650, so that I will have good chance at good universities.
I score 800 both on Math and Writing, but I don’t know how I should tackle this Critical Reading test. I have my SAT on October.
Please help me…
Use khanacademy.org
There are lots of practice questions and there are video explanations for each question.
I cant vouch for khanacademy for I havent used it but I doubt it could be close to as useful as it would be to take practice tests and reflect on them. Other than that, get Erica Meltzers CR book and READ it, absorbing the material and highlighting things. I dont suggest her method of doing the CR sections but the info she provides on the question types and passage types is indisposable. That and constantly practicing (I know it gets annoying hearing that word) and reflecting and seeing WHY these 4 choice were wrong and why this choicewas right will enlighten you in the passage readings and youll start to see patterns to wrong and right choices. The right choices in a passage based reading are often confusingly worded (causing many to eliminate them) and restate the passage using synonyms - they rarely restate exact nouns or verbs used in the passage.
