Hello I am about to be a high school senior in Georgia and am trying to finalize my college application list and would love some advice. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, 35 ACT, and 1520 SAT and am looking for merit at a lot of the schools I am applying to, which is why I am planning on applying to so many. I also do both cross country and track and field and am looking into taking part in these sports at some of the D3 schools as well. I’m looking to stay near or in the South East, although I’m not completely against moving a little farther away. I prefer smaller colleges because I feel that they have the best learning and social environments for me, and I prefer colleges that aren’t located in the middle of large cities. I also am currently planning on studying psychology or neurology, but that is not definite as of now. My parents are looking to spend around $25,000-$30,000 a year for college, so that puts some definite restraints on my list. These are the schools I am planning to apply to as of now:
1. University of Georgia (although I would really like to avoid this school if possible- I'd like to get farther away)
- Emory University (reach school)
- University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (nominated for Morehead Cain by my school)
- Washington and Lee (financial reach)
- Furman University
- Wake Forest
- University of Miami
- Vanderbilt University (reach school)
- The University of the South (Sewanee)
- Tulane University
- Richmond University
- Rollins.
Are these schools a good fit, am I missing any schools I should apply to that aren't too far from the South East, and are there any I should scratch from the list? Any other good safety schools I should apply to? I know I have a lot of reach schools (financially and academically). Thanks!
