anybody else here frantically getting an essay or recommendation finalized before the Nov 1 deadline?
i've written like 5 essays in the past couple months....all of them horrific. this last one had better be good because i have no time left.

would admissions people hold it against us for sending something in at the last minute?

I know of how big of a procrastinator I can be so I made sure I sent my application 2 weeks ago =D. don't stress too much over your essays tho. I spent about 3 hours each on my essays and they turned out to be better than I would have thought. colleges usually want to read personal essays that show who you are so just write about what's most important to you - shouldn't be too hard. good luck!

Since I knew I was applying EA to Harvard, I went ahead and wrote my essays towards the end of the summer, and handed out all my rec forms about a month ago to avoid stressing.

Try your best to get it in by the deadline is all I can advise. They have one for a reason. Good luck!

Luckily I have a couple of schools I know I can get into besides Harvard where I'd be happy, so I'm not so pressured for December! Hope to see you all next fall!

zuma, how did you hear about the extension? do you know whether it applies to wilma victims as well as katrina victims? we got hit by wilma and lost power for a week. miami is still recovering. no school for two weeks. the last i heard from harvard is that they were considering only individual situations as they applied to wilma, and not implementing a broad policy like they did for katrina.

But they'll make some sort of negative impression don't they? Besides, there's a chance half the class are filled when your app finally comes :-S

What do you mean that Wilma is case by case? I live in Naples; the eye passed almost right over us. We lost power and school for 6 days. I want an extra chance to get in another essay.
