crushing

Emory's financial aid office is uncooperative and trully disappointing. Sure- admissions will sell you and talk up thier schools money how they can accomodate- but for lower middle class families with rotten fathers- they basically say- screw you. you are worthy of an emory edu but we aren't willing to help you- although we can

Financial aid is a two way street. You need to provide all required documentation by deadlines. These deadlines are important since other financial aid applicants who comply by the dates posted will get first crack at aid.

Emory as well as many other schools cannot evaluate need without the information requested. I read a previous post of yours which mentioned your non custodial parent has not been fully co-operative. Since he is paying child support and has financial involvement the collegeboard and most schools expect contributions from both parents regardless of divorce agreements. Such agreements usually do not supercede parental responsibility.

If your father has not had any involvement with you and has fully refused to be of assistance, schools do make special consideration, however it might be too late in your case.

My divorced father rushed his taxes in order to meet the Emory 4/1 deadline. He understood the situation and did not mind the inconvenience.
Perhaps Emory will extend the deadline for him. It is an unfortunate situation when a parent is uncooperative and it only hurts the child. I hope your father can provide some information and work with Emory ASAP, so a financial aid package will be offered to you.
Good luck!!!

What if you don't know where your noncustodial parent is located? In my case, my parents divorced in 1990; since then, I haven't seen or heard from my father.
