How much computer science, programming, is used in EE??

Quite a bit. I'm only a freshman and so far I've already had two classes that dealt with programming. In one, we're expected to know how to create a program that can determine the voltage, current, or resistance of a circuit depending on what we're given in a question. It also depends on what type of concentration within EE you plan on going into.

Programming chips to do anything useful ;).

um...you have to know programming. You will probably encounter a lot of programming in your EE career...such as C, C++, Java, VHDL etc. etc

oh alright, thanks for all the feed back.. Im sure Electronic Electrical Engineers use programming a lot more than an EE based more on power?

EE majors have to take a minimum of one or two CS classes.

well it matters what you mean. EE will do alot of low level programming (if they focus on something such as computer hardware) since low-level deals with the hardware level. It also matters which concentration you take (at some schools you can get an EE degree with a focus in computer software.)

You should at least be very familiar with C/C++, it helps with learning other languages more quickly. For my digital logic design class, we had to learn VHDL to design 8-1 multiplexers and such.
