CS+Ling in UIUC vs CS in U.Wisc.Mad

Hi,

I got admitted to CS+Linguistics at UIUC & I did accept the admission offer at UIUC. Today I received an email from University of Wisconsin Madison that I got admitted into their Computer Science program.

Both are OOS for me & the fees is quite the same.

So which program is better CS+Ling at UIUC or CS at Wisc.Mad. I got 5 day deadline for Wisc.Mad.

Looks like in Wisc-Mad the major is undeclared to begin with. I chose CS+Ling at UIUC to have a different scope though things can be different going forward. Also I have some opportunities to take more CS specific electives since I’ll be skipping few (5 or 6) courses with my AP credits.

As long as I can match the coursework with reg.CS only program it shouldn’t make any difference.
After some research and brainstorming I decided to stick with UIUC.

Great choice - I am sure CS + Ling also opens some interesting opportunities for studying natural language processing.

If it was me, I’d go with the CS+Ling, just because it seems more interesting than straight CS. There should also be plenty of job opportunities with the former.
