CS vs CmpE

which one does the school have better programs in? computer science or computer engineering (they have it as an EE emphasis i think)?

hmm does anyone know?

I don’t think computer science majors have to take chemistry. That’s a plus in my book. LOL!

i need some guidance on this…any help is appreciated!

im taking ap chem now btw

AFAIK Comp. Science, being in the College of Engineering, has the same prerecs are CompEngr. so that’s all equal.

ok…but i was looking to get some info from, say, a CS major…i guess there arent that many of those here? :(

I seem to meet more people majoring in computer science than computer engineering. Computer engineering includes a computer science component along with the electrical engineering component (CE is officially an option/track for electrical engineering majors), while computer science has an option for a minor in computer science.

AFAIK, electrical engineering (and thus its computer engineering option) is one of the less common majors for engineers at UA. That’s not to say that it wouldn’t be a good major for you, it’s just less common for students to choose. I encourage your to further look into the differences between the two majors and others offered by the College of Engineering or other UA colleges. I realize that course sequencing is very important in the College of Engineering, but I would highly recommend that you take courses common to both majors and see which major you like better.

Some would argue that a Computer Engineering degree is more marketable then Comp Sci.

SEA_Tide…I think EE is the largest of the Eng’g majors. …but maybe I’m wrong…I’ll see if I can come up with some numbers.

DS is a CS Major, but just started this fall so I don’t have much input. His classes are challenging, small, and he loves it… no help I know :)

very cool…thank you guys!
