CSOM Questions!

Hey,

Is BC still a good place to go if I was accepted into CSOM (Finance major), not CSOM Honors?
I got accepted into CUNY Baruch Honors program where I basically don’t have to pay a cent. I’m international so I did not get any Fin. Aid from BC.
Since I live in NYC, my parents want me to stay close, but I want to go to BC because they have good recruitment. Is this true?

Questions I have are:

Is there a lot of difference between CSOM and CSOM Honors?

Social life

Internship opportunities

School guidance help

Alumini network

Is it hard to transfer from BC to other school?

Thanks-

I got accepted into CSOM Finance major too.
I probably will go there. I don’t know about CUNY but according to one of my teachers CSOM Honor is really good and hard to get in. I heard the Alumini network is good too.
And I’m also thinking of transfer.

1) There isn’t a huge difference. The major differences are the regimented courses you have to take, you get the better professors, honors students go on special trips. Aside from all of that, professors expect more from honors students so they get more work.

2) What of the social life are you interested in? The students here are generally very friendly and parties are all around campus on weekends.

3) Internship opportunities are excellent. There are many alumni who come back and network with the students. There is plenty of on campus recruiting with job/internship fairs and info sessions on different companies.

4) There really is no guidance counselor type person or at least from my experience. The people who will help you most are your professors. They are genuinely kind and free to speak to you about any subject matter.

5) The alumni network is great. Alumni are constantly returning to the campus to give info sessions and recruit at BC.

6) From BC to another school withing BC or another school in general? Honestly, it doesn’t matter which school you attend when you transfer, it’s all about the GPA. Certainly a transfer from Harvard will get more leeway, but there isn’t a huge difference between a 3.5 from Harvard and a 3.5 from a state school in the grand scheme of things.

I was also accepted in to Baruch honors a couple of years ago; however, I just didnt really want to commute to school everyday. On top of that, the lack of campus, school pride, sports, and a host of other things did not appeal to me. I ultimately chose to attend BC and am loving m decision.
