CSS-financial Aid parents Data

There is a question - Enter the total current value of this parent’s tax-deferred retirement, pension, annuity, and savings plans. Include IRA, SRA Keogh, SEP, 401(a), 401(k), 403(b), 408, 457, 501© plans, etc.

what do I need to write in this ? My parents do not belong from US.

I would say 0 - since you are not using a 2015 tax return to tie into your FAFSA/CSS profile.

Did your parents contribute to a tax deferred retirement plan in 2015? If so, you put that amount in. If not, you put $0.

It doesn’t matter what country your parents are from.

Is this the amount that my parents earned in the year 2015 ?

No there is a separate line for income. This is asking about retirement savings that don’t get taxed when your parents put the money in the account. If they don’t have this kind of savings then put 0.

There is a line about income. You put your parent income on that line.

There is another line for contributions to tax deferred retirement accounts. You put those contributions, if any, onnthat line.

My mom is housewife. what do i need to put in this line?-Is this parent self-employed or unemployed?

There’s a really good video on YouTube on how to fill out the FAFSA. If my link doesn’t work search for “Khan Academy FAFSA.”
