How important is it to meet the March 1 deadline for the FASA/CSS Profile Application? My parents have not been able to get their taxes completed yet.

From what I’ve heard, the sooner, the better, as more funds are available the sooner you meet the deadline (not sure if this is true though). At the very least though, if you meet the deadline, you will receive your financial aid letter around the same time as your acceptance, whereas if you’re late, you’ll probably get your package late.

If you are a US citizen or permanent resident, funding levels should not matter as 100% of your demonstrated financial need will be met regardless. Your loans will be maxed at around 4-5K with another 2K of work study and the rest being grants. That said, I would try to get in contact with the financial aid office to see what they have to say about it, you don’t want to somehow become ineligible for aid because you missed a deadline or something.

You can fill the CSS/FASFA with estimates and go back and correct them when the forms are readily available.
