Hi all -

Our son will be starting college Fall of 2014. We are preparing to fill out a CSS Financial Aid Profile on the College Board website. Question: Do I establish a new College Board account in my name, or use our son's existing account?

Thanks in advance....

L.O.

I used the existing accounts. I think the first time I filled out the profile I tried to create a new account, but when I put in the student’s email address the site caught that it already existed on an account and would not let me create a second account with that email address and would not let me create an account without an email address for the student.

Soxfan, thanks! I just got off the phone with a very helpful College Board phone rep. He said that you can do it either way, as long as you use a different email address the 2nd time. An advantage of having a separate account for the CSS Profile info, he pointed out, is that your financial info can be shield from your child–if that is something one wants to do.
