Do any colleges require the CSS profile and the FAFSA?

Is this a trick question?

no...........

yes many colleges require both
state colleges just require FAFSA
private colleges often require PROFILE and for your enjoyment have their own aid form as well.

That is so ridiculous. Why do they require so many forms?

One other question--It costs $39.95 to file a CSS-profile. Is that $39.95 for each different school, or $39.95 for all schools?

vtoodler - check collegeboard.com...it's $5 there and $18 per colege I believe for the Profile

It is pretty ridiculous, just when you finish the app you have all the financial aid stuff and honors program stuff due, how annoying! When am I supposed to do my homework?! I haven't even graduated yet jeez!

Ok, since practically all colleges require FAFSA. What's the point of filing a Profile?

Some private colleges ask for it, as emeraldkitty said. It has more detailed questions, and it includes home equity data as well.

CSS may also have a non-custodial parent and business equity supplemental form if required by the college. If you do not complete by the deadlines, good luck being considered for aid. Fun isn't it!

The point in filing the Profile (if the college requires it) is that you will not receive a financial aid package at all from the schools that require the Profile in addition to the FAFSA unless you complete them both. And IF the school has its own form too...you must do that. To be honest, it's a small investment in time for gaining some monies to support your college education should you be eligible. And...it's a small investment in application fees too when you consider the $5 plus $18 per school compared to the cost of attendance at most universities.
