CSS Profile Wrong Data Submitted Please Help!!!

Hi I just submitted my CSS profile and I realized that I entered the wrong number for my parents’ savings. It should be 78k instead of 120k. My family can only pay 25k a year (19k from savings and 6k from my parents’ income for each year; Their income is 10k from retirement and 7k from interest; The 11k rest is for annual expenses). Will my FA package be affected a lot since it is 120k instead of 78k? Please help I’m frustrated. Is there anything I can/should/must do? Every answer is deeply appreciated.

Your post makes no sense. You say your parent income is $10,000 from retirement, and $7000 from interest. But then you say their income is $78,000.

Please clarify this.

Did you use your parent 2016 tax return when you completed the Profile?

my parents’ income is not 78k. It’s their savings bank account. i am an international student so i cant file the federal 2016 tax return. @thumper1

What is their annual INCOME? That is weighted more than their assets.

Honestly…there is no way to say how Profile schools will use the assets. Contact the college via email, and ask them how they would like you to correct the Profile…because you can’t do it online.

So…n your original post…you say your parent income is?? Looks like $18,000 Plus $11,000 they have for living expenses. That’s $29,000 a year. Are you asking them to use the bulk of their savings for your colleges costs?

Do you have any less costly options than coming here to study???

My reading of the first post is that the parent income is 17k annually (10k from retirement and 7k from interest), and after using 6k of that for college expenses, the parents will have 11k each year for living expenses. Since OP is an international student, my big question is this: are these figures in U.S. dollars, or a different currency?

If post 4 is accurate…does this student really feel his parents can afford to pay for college in the U.S.

Unfortunately, once you’ve submitted your Profile, you cannot change or correct (on the Profile itself) the error your post references. But, that’s not the end of the road: you’ll have to contact the fin aid offices at your recipient schools and alert them to the mistake. They have the ability to correct the error on your Profile case via each school’s Institution Portal (a feature which all Profile App schools have access).
