Css profile

Hello,
nice to meet you all,
i’m benny from indonesia,
i have been trying for scholarship in us.
and i found it , css profile.
so i almost finish all field column in collegeboard.com.

but some column make me confused.

  1. parents tax,
my mother is a housewife so i only fill “no required to return tax” in column css profile.
but my father has business at home although small. his income every month is
    Rp, 7.000.000 - 9.000.000 equal to $450- $580. but its a gross income.
so he has to pay electricity, water, and others a month.
in other case of me, i work in intern private bank as bank teller, my income is Rp.4.900.000
($316) a month. and i have filled to return tax every year.
in indonesia for minimum of returning tax is Rp 4.500.000 ($290)
the reason my father doesnot want to pay tax is because his expenditure is also large.
is it odd if my income is less than my father but only me that have returned tax, but my father not?? what should i do in column father required tax?
  1. my parents have no social security for they old age. is it a problem for me to apply css profile?

hope you guys can help me
and give me your opinion that i eligible to get this financial aid?

Is this for 2021?

I had the same question. The Profile form for academic year 2021/2022 isn’t available yet, and if OP is shooting for entering college this fall (2020), he’s way behind the curve in completing Profile for institutional money, especially as an international applicant.

@bennywij2503 The CSS Profile doesn’t award scholarships. Is that what you think?

The Profile is a financial aid application form. Some colleges require it and one don’t. If your college requires it…you must submit it. If the college does not require the Profile, you can’t submit it to them.

When are you starting college? If it’s 2020, this year…you have missed the Profile deadlines at the schools requiring this form.

If you are starting in fall 2021, that Profile form won’t be available until October 1.

Have you already been accepted to colleges?

If you are planning to apply next year, where are you thinking about applying?

yes im starting for 2021. i have not been accepted any colleges. i was searching on the internet , like nyu has financial aid for undergraduated and directed me to link collegeboard.com.

oke guys, i see, css profile starting in october 1, 2020. so before i fill that form later. i must prepare about that question no 1 and 2. please give me suggestions.

@bennywij2503

The very first thing you need to understand…colleges in this country are not required to meet your financial need to attend college here.

Being an international student actually puts you at a huge disadvantage.

From the NYU website:

This means that NYU has limited funding for international students, AND your ability to pay will be considered when your application for admission is considered. NYU does not guarantee to meet full need for all accepted students, and the cost of attendance exceeds $70,000 a year.

All colleges have aid for undergraduates, but that doesn’t mean your full costs to attend will be covered.

Have you taken the SAT or ACT test yet? And the TOEFL? How did you score? What sort of grades do you have in high school…all tippy top grades?

““the reason my father doesnot want to pay tax is because his expenditure is also large.””

I chuckled at this. He should be running a country!

NYU is notoriously stingy.

you guys are right NYU is not friendly with financial aid.
thank you guy for your advice,
if you have other advise. leave it all, i will be with pleasure to get it.

love all your concerns.

@bennywij2503

We can’t give you a speck of even almost good advice without knowing your high school grades, your SAT or ACT score, and your TOEFL score.

Simply put…no matter how good a school’s financial aid looks to be, you can’t get it unless you are an accepted student.
