I’m trying to transfer from a CC & CSU within a year and half. I’m currently taking most of my classes at Sac City so that I can transfer as a CC student instead of a CSU student. The CSU I’m attending is Sac State, and I have to take about 3 or 4 classes there so I wanted to know which classes I should take at Sac State that would transfer to a UC. I would expect that the usual GE’s like english would transfer over but I just wanted to be sure. So anyone know of any classes at a CSU that definitely transfer over? Oh and I’m a BME major.
Since CSU to UC isn’t a defined transfer path, none of the CSU courses are mapped to their UC equivalent. They might - or might not transfer. The admissions person will evaluate each CSU class and decide. They probably won’t meet the required course list for TAG. In fact, your concurrent enrollment may disqualify you from the TAG program.
You’d probably have better luck attending Sac City and AR or another local CC - and you’d save a bunch of $. .
I"d encourage you to make an appointment with an admissions officer at UCD (a short drive away). Review you current transcripts and your go forward plan before heading too far down this path.
Good luck.
How are you going to go in 1.5 years? UCs usually don’t have mid-year admissions. See http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/transfer-admission-matrix.pdf page 5. Although a campus could decide to allow it in the future.
Also part of the definition for being considered a CC transfer says
Check with UC to make sure what you’re doing qualifies
Virtually all CSU courses transfer unless they’re off the grid. That does not mean you don’t work closely with an advisor to verify, but CSU, UC, and CCC are closely aligned.
And they can certainly meet the required TAG courses, depending on subject, although as cal rent said being concurrent is a problem.
Also you need at least 30 units from a CCC and the last school needs to be a CCC to get priority consideration as a CCC transfer.
This is great guys thanks for all this info! @Mikemac by 1.5 years I mean schooling wise I should have all my credits by then and plan to work second semester till admission notification. @Ncalrent thanks for the heads up on the disqualification, I’ll talk to my cc and csu counsler to see if thats a good idea or not.
