DS was accepted to Chico (his first choice, yay!). GPA 3.5, SAT 1270, computer science. Also accepted to Sonoma and SF State. Waiting to hear from Pomona and San Jose.
How much harder is Cal Poly (and UCSC) to get into than Long Beach and Cal Poly Pomona (got into both of those but still waiting on others…)
This is for a History major by the way…3.7gpa and 1490 SAT. My UC capped weighted GPA is 3.65.
8 AP classes
One of the top high schools in the state.
Not in any service area.
thanks in advance for any insight or guesses
@TheFrenchChef: Cal Poly SLO admits by major while UCSC (except for Engineering) does not, so part of the answer to your question is what is your intended major? Also what is your CSU/UC capped weighted GPA, test scores, EC’s and HS course rigor? Are you in the local service area of CPP and CSULB?
@Gumbymom added more detail above. Was just hoping that by getting into Long Beach that might be some good karma…
@TheFrenchChef: I think that SLO and UCSC will be 50/50 since your SAT is well within range and above the averages but your GPA is below the averages. In general SLO and UCSC will be tougher admits than CPP and CSULB. The advantage at the UC’s is that good EC’s and Personal insight essays can help your chances.
Best of luck.
I don’t know if this is the right forum but I got accepted earlier today to SJSU for SWE as a transfer.
GPA: 3.96
Supplemental course: 3/4 Finished (Missing Physics 50)
Golden four: Done by Spring
Major: Nutrition Science/Dietetics
GPA: 2.6
AA-T/AS-T? : No but am a transfer- have 2 AA’s and 2 certificates (CSU & IGETC)
Pre-reqs: Done
Golden 4: Yes, completed in 2017
Local: No
Applied: CSULB, CPP, CSULA, CSUSB
Accepted: CSULB (major: Health Science on 2/15), CSUSB (Dietetics on 3/6)
Background info: I am not considered a local transfer for any of these schools because I have accumulated the majority of my units from CSU Stanislaus (2015-2017), but my current CC (2017-2019) is local to CSUSB. Now waiting on CSULA and CPP.
