CSU Engineering transfer chance me

I'm currently a community college student planning on transferring fall 2013 to a any one of these schools: cal poly slo, san jose st for materials engineering & cal poly pomona, san diego st or long beach for mechanical engineering. I'll have finished all of the recquired and desired courses for cal poly slo by spring 2013 (which basically covers all the courses for the other schools im applying to plus some extras). I'll have an AS-T is mathematics (associates transfer) and heard that this will help bump me up in prriority since im not from any of the neighboring regions (im in contra costa county). I'll have around 80 semester units completed and most of my CSUGE's done. Heres whats bothering me, towards the end of last semester we had a drastic family emergency which caused me to not finish off the semester very strong failing my calc 3 class. i am currently re-taking it right now, my gpa dropped down to a 2.8. so, what are my chances for any of these schools? i know an f in a class like math does not look good, but how much will that affect my chances? i have mostly B's, with a few A's and only 2 C's along with the failed class. this semester im on track for 4 A's. thanks!

Do your school supersede a failed course on a transcript if you passed it in another semester?

there is a failed course forgiveness policy at my school, but applications start october 1st so that grade will show up on my transcript when i send it out.
