CSU or UC for Nursing??

I am currently a senior in high school and applying to colleges with a gpa of 3.7 out of 4.5.

I was looking into cal state LA or LB for Nursing because it is more of an applied field, but others have been saying that it probably wouldn't be the best idea since it could take longer to graduate due to the impact of the major and capacity of classes.

I am in a dilemma of whether to attend a UC or CSU if I do get in. If I apply to Med school, do they look at these schools differently?( like a CSU is not as prestige as UC? )

Well, nursing major degree programs are predominantly at CSUs:

Nursing B.S. (CSUB, CSUC, CSUDH, CSUEB, CSUFRES, CSUFULL, CSULA, CSULB, CSUN, CSUS, CSUSB, CSUSM, CSUSTAN, SDSU, SFSU, SJSU, SSU)
Nursing B.S. (ADN to BSN Fast Track Track II) (CSUCI)
Nursing B.S. (BSN Program at Cottage Health System Track I) (CSUCI)
Nursing B.S. (General (Basic) Track I) (CSUCI)
Nursing B.S. (RN to BSN Track II) (CSUCI)
Nursing Registered Nurse B.S. (CSULB)
Nursing Science B.S. (UCI)

However, medical schools may frown on applicants with undergraduate majors in specialized health sciences like nursing.

My career goal is to be a Nurse Practitioner, so I don’t know how that is going to work out. :(

Going to grad school to be a Nurse Practioner is not the same as going to med school. Do you want to become a doctor or a NP?

Anyway…all those Calif programs are impacted for BSN, so apply to many and see if you get accepted. Right now is not the time to choose.

Yeah, apply to many schools. But in general UC nursing has more theory while CSU nursing is more practical, the same goes for pretty much all other majors between the two systems. I would say a UC would be a better option for advance practice nursing roles.
