I'm currently enrolled at CSU Stanislaus and I wan't to transfer to a UC. Which (if any) do you think I would have a chance at getting into as an undergrad?

My stats:

3.7 gpa Majoring in Biology/Gender Studies and minoring in chem (going to med school, I wan't to be an endocrinologist working with transgender patients)
*President of 2 clubs,Vice president of a tutoring club that is linked to a regional tutoring non profit, Public relations chair for Bio Student Association and Fundraiser chair for our LGBT org...
*Starting my own non profit (established first as a club) for students wanting to facilitate their own workshops around the community (about social awareness).
*Representative for the College of Science in Student Government
*Honors Program
*Deans List
*Have given college lectures on Gender (as a guest lecturer)

*Sadly, the thing that may hinder my chances of getting in: I got a D in my precalc class first semester (a combination of factors, one of which he was the worst professor on campus,1.5 on rate my professor!). I literally have an A in every college course except for that one (I would have had a 4.0 if it weren't for that.

...if my demographics matter (latino, gay male, first generation college student from a poor background )

Will my "D" screw up my chances of getting in anywhere (oh dear lord that sounds inappropriate). I am retaking the class and I'm getting an A (as of now).

Please let me know what my chances are for UC's and other schools (Stanford, Harvard, NYU, UW,Yale, and both of the Cal polys )

Go for UCLA! They have a nice LGBT resource center, proactive in their Gender Studies department, and have a great bio program. Although harder to transfer from a CSU, you are describing yourself as someone that they’d want to have as a student. You’re making up the D so that should not be as big a problem as you might think. Good luck!

Thank you ! Do you go there? Do you have experience with the transfer system?

I believe it is very difficult and almost impossible to transfer from a CSU to a UC. UC to UC is already difficult and I cannot imagine why CSU would be any easier. Community college transfers are given the highest priority (because they don’t have anywhere to go) and then UC’s are next in priority. UW, being a public school up north would be the same as CA schools. Your better option would be perhaps a private college transfer or Cal Poly (because it is a CSU).

I didn’t catch your class level but, generally, the UCs won’ t look at non-Jr transfers from anywhere.

I agree with the above - CSU to UC is a difficult path. The courses don’t align well and it’s just not their mission. (I’d ad, transferring to SLO is also very difficult).

It wouldn’t hurt to drive down to UCM, transcript in hand and see what they say. If you can make a connection in the admissions office, they may work with you.

Heading to a CC then using TAG (transfer guarantee) to a UC (not UCB, UCLA or UCSD). is the smoothest path - but might put you so far behind you’d be better served heading straight through at Stanislaus.

HELLO! Congrats on the transfer!! Can i message you and ask some questions on the CSU to UC transfer?
