CSULB Spring 2019 Transfer Thread

@anyoneelse My class I’m taking right now is not showing up. But I believe you just need to wait for the classes to end, then send the official transcript again and they wil count it on

Hey! Just wondering, is it any easier to be accepted in the spring rather than the fall? I would love to apply to CSUF and CSULB as a comm major, but my gpa is only a 3.25 w/ ADT boost, and will probably drop slightly this semester. Wondering if I have a better chance at being admitted if I apply for the spring semester.

@alexismariah That’s a hard one to answer. CSULB said that for fall of 2018 they got 102,000 applicants and only 8,500 were accepted. I’m not sure if their “accepted” amount means the amount of people who were accepted or the amount of people who accepted their offer. I know the fall 2018 year was extremely tough though. From what I see it seems like most transfers had somewhere around a 3.4 gpa or higher (for my major at least). If I were you I’d aim for fall 2019, but if you get rejected apply again in the spring. You might want to look around at past forums and see what the gpa’s were of accepted students in your major.

@alexismariah there are also factors like local or not involved which make a major difference. You are still better off applying though than not applying.

Hi, English major here.
I applied for Fall 2018 with 2.89 gpa (not including the adt boost). I had a 17 unit spring semester load not yet completed at the time. I was denied.

Since CSULB is my dream school, I decided not to attend my back up school and try again with CSULB for Spring 2019. I applied with 3.20 GPA (not including adt boost) and I got it.

My advice is apply for Fall and if need be apply again in Spring as I did. Best of Luck.

p.s you won’t know unless you try.

… wondering when the Gwar test results will post.

@graceful311 I know right #:-S I am checking every day, but it most likely won’t show up for at least another week or more.

It’s one month today since the test, says 6-8 weeks which from recent threads people saw it posted on portal in 5-6 weeks

@RichardBIV @graceful311 It took a little over 5 weeks for them to grade mine.

Hope all are doing good. It’s been 5 weeks today since GWAR testing, I have a good feeling that this is the week for the results

@rb8991 What is your major at CSULB?

@C105213 Criminal Justice

Y’ALL scores are out

Passed!!! by a hair but passed

Passed too

are engineering majors exempt from the GWAR requirement?

Do you know what was the gpa cut-off last year for local and out of local ?

@justinmega1 No, all students are required to take GWAR.

@justinmega1 I’m an engineering major and I thought that too but they told me that everyone gotta take it

@rb8991 Do you know if we passed the GWAR are we gonna have to take any classes regarding that requirement?

@anyoneelse Everyone has to take some writing class after passing/failing the GWAR. You’ll have to take one that has to do with your major, but it’ll count for one of the classes you need to take anyways once transferring.
