So I am currently in the middle of my 3rd semester at CSULB. Living in south Orange County, the commute to CSULB has almost killed me, especially this semester. They recently closed down the CA-W22 freeway offramp, so traffic has made it nearly impossible for me to get to my classes on time unless I leave 2 hours before my class starts, and then there is the drive back. The school is wonderful, but because I live so far away and moving is not an option, I can't handle going to CSULB anymore. However, I live much closer to UCI, about 20 minutes away, and it would be amazingly wonderful to transfer there.
However, because I have waited so long and I already have so many units at CSULB, I am no longer eligible to transfer to a CC and take part in the TAG program to UCI. I have tried talking to a counselor at CSULB and they refuse to help me in any way. They said things like "I have never encountered something like this before. Nobody ever wants to transfer out of CSULB" and then they say they'll talk to someone at UCI for me and see what they can do, but then give me false information. I verified this with someone at UCI's admissions office I talked to on the phone. However, when I asked her if I could talk to an advisor, I was denied. They only allow transfer advising services to Community College Transfers. Stuck, I decided to go to a Transfer advisor at Saddleback Community College, of which I am a registered student to. I have taken my language classes at Saddleback when I was in High School and now I take classes there for recreation. However, the counselor there was also not much help. She could not give me a straight answer because she said there is no written agreement about what will transfer from a CSU to a UC. She told me which classes I could take at Saddleback that will be guaranteed to transfer to UCI and advised me to go to saddleback next semester instead of CSULB.
I am in a bit of a dilemma that I cannot fix and was hoping for some kind of answer or advice from the internet. These are my credentials:
3.95 GPA at CSULB
3.79 GPA with CSULB, AP, and Community College credit
(in my senior year of high school, I was stupid and took a 2 unit voice class for fun and failed it. I didn't know I would have to transfer it if I didn't want to, so it took a large toll on my GPA. Other than that, I got two 4s on two AP tests and A's in everything else.)
I don't have much work experience, and I have minimal volunteer experience.
I have made President's/Principal's Honor Roll every semester since I have been in high school-college.
I have no club leadership positions or sports teams.

These are my questions:
1. Would it be a mistake to go to CC next semester and take an educational leave at CSULB? so if I don't get into UCI, I still have the choice to transfer that credit I did at CC and go to CSULB during the fall in 2012.
2. What do you think my chances are at getting in to UCI?
3. Do you know of anyone that has done a CSU to UC transfer? If yes, what was their GPA and other credentials? How did they make sure their credits transferred?
4. If you can't answer these questions, can you recommend me another website to go to or someone to talk to that you think may be able to help?
