MomOFour,

My son's first choice was Number Theory (Lancaster, Session 2); he did not get in, but was assigned to his 2nd choice, HS Physics. He wanted both courses badly and about equally, so we're happy.

Number Theory was still available in Session 1 as of yesterday, so if that is what you requested your daughter has probably been placed in it. You are supposed to be able to find out on MyCTY, but I wasn't able to log into it yesterday.

I did get an email, but it was not one of the glitches - it said that my son had not been placed at all because we hadn't provided documentation of the prerequisites! I was irritated, because he had missed the first round of assignments. I thought that the online application hadn't asked for documentation before placement, and I actually went through the online application process to make sure that I was right. I also looked at the paper application, and it did ask for documentation in bold print. Last year we were not asked to provide documentation until after placement.

I managed to find an email address for a staff member (it was impossible to get through anywhere by phone) and sent a message expressing my concern that my son had missed the first round of assignments because of an administrative blunder. I had a call shortly afterward from someone who told me that my son had been placed in his second-choice course, and she asked me to have the documentation sent directly to her.

I was not really expecting him to get into Number Theory this year, because his SAT scores are from last year (7th grade) and I wouldn't be surprised if they are not high enough to get him in. He'll take it again next year and try again for Number Theory.

I hope your daughter got in!
