CU Boulder or CU Denver

Hi! So I got into both CU boulder and CU Denver and I’m stuck on which one to pick.

CU Boulder Pros:

  • I’ve read that a degree from boulder holds more weight
  • bigger school, more/better opportunities ( the biggest factor that’s making me indecisive)
  • beautiful campus

CU Boulder Cons:

  • Environment ( lack of diversity, I’m not sure how I’ll fit in as a black woman)
  • not very familiar with boulder
  • I applied+ got accepted to the arts and science school (economics degree), nothing wrong with it, but I realized that going to their business school is a better fit for me rather than the arts & science ( working on transferring to business school , but I don’t know if I’ll get accepted)

CU Denver Pros-

  • In downtown ( I love downtown denver!), location is more convenient for my business
  • cheaper
  • familiar faces ( friends are going there )
  • I applied to a school I prefer more ( business school )

CU Denver Cons-

  • I’ve read that degree from here holds less weight
  • smaller school, less opportunities
  • Never visited CU Denver ( and probably won’t be able to due to virus), so I don’t know what I’m getting into

Which school do you guys think I should go to?? I hate that I’m so indecisive because my time is running out!!

What sort of college experience are you looking for? CU Denver and CU Boulder have very different campuses. While in Boulder, the CU campus has more of a college town vibe, while CU Denver is right there, a short walk from downtown Denver. You’ll have more people living on campus at Boulder, while there will be more commuters at Denver.
And will cost play any role in your decision?

I have spent a significant amount of time in Boulder, Colorado. Gorgeous, wealthy college town with very few African-Americans. (CU-Boulder undergraduate population is about 2% black, while CU-Denver reports 5% black enrollment.)

I think if your eventual goal is to work in Colorado, no employer will care which of those two schools you attended for your business degree (if you can get into the business program at CU-Boulder). Also, if you work outside of CO, few employers will know the difference between the two schools. So, I doubt future employment will hinge on this decision. If it were me making the decision, I’d look at cost, what you’d potentially learn from each school, and the social environment you desire (I think if you’re of traditional age, you’d enjoy CU Boulder more, unless you’re mature for your age…and if you’re older than 20, you’d enjoy CU Denver more). Good luck to you! P.S. Reading between the lines, it seems like you want to go to CU-Denver.
