Hello everyone! I was recently accepted into CU Boulder and the University of Iowa, and I just want to hear outside opinions on these schools. I got a $40k in total scholarship to Iowa and a $25k in total scholarship to CU Boulder, where I was also given admission to the honors college. I was admitted into the bio program at both schools and hope to go along the pre-med track, and I also want to continue studying French, although not on a professional track. I am out of state at both schools, and I think that they both have really good communities.
Do you have any advice or opinions? If you have attended either of these schools, do you feel that there are any specific things I should know before deciding? Thanks!
Two really interesting universities & cities. I was a grad student at Iowa long ago & have visited several times in recent years. It is such a wonderful place, with the business district literally right across the street from the campus. The students at Iowa are sharper than the farmer stereotype some people assume. Public high schools in Iowa tend to be very good, & they get a significant # of students from metropolitan areas in nearby states (especially Chicago). Sports are huge, & the traditional college experience can still be had there.
Boulder is bigger and has more of a hip/artsy/outdoorsy/Rocky Mountain atmosphere…with a significant # of Californians. Academics at both universities are very solid, but if you have visited both, I would think the choice would be clear based on which overall atmosphere you prefer.
