CU Boulder, University of Alabama, or University of Delaware

Hi I’m a high school student in New England. I have been accepted to Boulder, U Alabama, and U Delaware in which I will pursue a pre-med track. I got accepted to the integrative physiology major at Boulder, and I believe I will major in biology at Alabama or Delaware. I am trying to decide between the three. Does any one know which has the strongest pre-med program?

They’re all good, fairly large flagships. Any of them should be fine for pre-med. What are the costs?

Ditto what Christian said, for Biology.

Boulder, definitely.

^^ Disagree with above. There is nothing inherently better about Boulder’s pre-med. Like all large state u’s, it offers all the classes you’ll need for medical school, but no discernible advantages over Alabama or Delaware.

And cost/debt isn’t coming into this equation at all?

I’d choose Boulder because of location if nothing else.

Medical school is expensive. Consider saving money and minimizing debt to reduce the total debt at the end of medical school.

I would pick the cheapest option, and save the money for medical school.

I agree, cost is actually a major factor. So far they’re all fairly near in price and expensive. I like Boulder’s program, I just don’t know how med school’s view an integrative physiology major vs a biology major.

Do you have any significantly less expensive options?

UD consistently ranks in the top ten health sciences programs in the country. Just a week or so ago they were named the number one DPT program in the country and a lot of the programs are run out of a brand new, high tech building on what is called the STAR campus. Boulder is a good school and Alabama has a good medical school. Can’t go wrong but probably ought to look at cost.

Medical schools really don’t care about your undergraduate major. They care about your GPA and your MCAT scores first and foremost. Go to the school that is most affordable for you and study something you’re passionate about and where you can excel. Biology and psychology majors are a dime a dozen at every school, so only major in those subjects if you’re interested in them apart from being pre-med.

@christianS97, what is your in-state flagship? If you’re not receiving big merit awards from these OOS schools, and money is a factor for you, it’s possible none of them is a good option.
