Does anyone know how much expressing interest in playing on Cornell's drumline (which is part of the marching band that goes to all of the home/away football games, etc.) could help in admission to Cornell, especially while applying ED? Should I talk to the director or someone else before I apply if I am interested in doing this? (Would it have any impact?)

So you know, I have played on my high school's drumline since freshman year, and have been a section leader. Our marching band is very strong, and we usually take part in a Giants Stadium competition (my HS is in NJ). I do not care which position (tenor, snare, bass, or cymbals) I would play if I was on the line, as I even have experience playing marching cymbals.

Also - would it be helpful to send in any tape/video of my playing in my application? Should I ask this to the director?

Thanks so much and any comments are appreciated!

it's the only marching band in the Ivy(correct me if I'm wrong), and it's no competition against Howard's band, not even some high school bands. So I don't think they recruit for it and consider it in admissions. I do know that they recruit the first day for freshmen outside Bartels(they asked if I played an instrument, and I said violin, and then their cheery smiles faltered lol great welcoming)

But I'm sure the admissions officers would love to view your video anyway. They always encourage extra stuff like that. It shows individuality. So def add it to ur app.

Thanks guys. I'm more interested in whether saying that I definitely want to be on the drumline (which Cornell might need people for, especially considering seniors graduating) can help with chances rather than about sending in videos, etc. But anything's welcome!
