Please provide any insights re classes etc.

Hmmmm. Not a lot to go on. I am planning to be an anthro major. I haven't actually started attending yet ( 3 weeks yay!!!), but I'm pretty knowledgable about the dept. BMC has the four-field approach to anthro- linguistic, physical, archaelogical (I know I didn't spell that right), and of course cultural/social. The class I'm taking next year focuses on physical (human origins, etc) but next semester I'm taking one on cultural. I've already had the opportunity to take a cultural anthro class, but I decided that since I'm majoring, I want all the foundation I can get for 200 level classes.

Bryn Mawr provides a host of anthro classes on a wide range of topics. For instance, I'm planning on taking medical anthro which can be social or physical depending on the topic. Also, you have the tri-co at your feet, so you have even more options (be warned though that Swat has classes that are mixed anth and sociology- not strictly anth).

I feel that BMC does a great job at providing good professors and students that inspire the best in each other. I chose BMC for it's anth dept. and still feel like I've made a good decision. I've already talked to the head of the dept via e-mail. Also another reason that I chose BMC is that while in a program at the Smithsonian I met an anthropologist working there who was a BMC graduate. I've interned with her and kind of consider her to be an academic mentor. Her success and great BMC experiences have shown me just what BMC's dept can do.

Phew! I wrote a lot! I hope that answered your questions. If you need anything else I'm here to answer your questions!
