Has anyone been accepted to CUNY Honors? I was accepted to Hunter Honors, and I'm now strongly considering it because it's such an amazing deal and seems like a great program. Anyone else considering it and/or attending the reception? Also, does anyone have an idea of how competitive it was this year? A friend told me that this year more people applied during the ED round alone than applied in total last year, but I was wondering if someone could verify?

Anyway, congrats to all who got in! :)
I hope to see those of you who were accepted to Hunter Honors at the reception!

I just checked out the program on their website. What a great program! I couldn't find the qualifications listed anywhere. Do you have to be a city resident? Are there any SAT/GPA requirements?
Sounds like a great deal.

Yeah, it really seems like a great opportunity! And for Hunter Honors, they provide free dorms in midtown Manhattan! I don't believe that there is residency requirement, but I could be wrong. Also, there are no GPA or SAT requirements per se, but the average GPA of admitted CUNY Honors students is well above 90, and average SAT scores usually fall somewhere between 1300 and 1400. Also, being an active member of your community and/or school seems to be a very important factor for getting in.

Hunter Honors offers a private dorm room at the Brookdale Campus Residencies. If a student chooses to commute, or just not live in the dorm, the college will provide an additional $1,000 stipend for the students personal use.

Hey, Congratulations! I got accepted into CUNY Honors at Baruch. I'm also considering it because it offers so many great opportunities, and probably more in coming years because its starting to get a lot of funding. My only problem is that there is no dorming! Still, I'm definitely going to be at the Chancellor's reception on April 16th. As for the number of applicants, I am not aware of the competitiveness of the program, so I hope the reception can tell us more about that

50g50g: Do you or have you attended CUNY Honors, or know someone who did? I'm interested in your perspective if you have something to substantiate it.

what about Honors Baruch? How does that compare to other business schools (NYU, Michigan, etc)..
I know the honors Baruch students receive full scholarship, laptop, etc.... but do they also get free housing? (i.e. their apartments are paid for)? don't they also get a stipend?

another cuny honors bound here =)
for those who were saying that cuny is a crap, the honors is definitely not. from my school(prestigious prep school in new york), while around seven people got in to NYU, only me and another person got into cuny honors. even #2 in ranking got rejected. for a program which started only a few years back and nobody but the New Yorkers know about, its selectivity and growing quality are pretty impressive. and it definitely makes a statement about elitists who think ivy league is the only way to succeed.
for those who were wondering about city residency, the cuny honors has none. you can be from california or as far as swaziland, still apply and get accepted! i think the fact that it does not have residency requirements will eventually increase the applicant pool and the competition of the program in the coming years.
i attended reception a week ago, and was very impressed, and the small population of those who got accepted are guaranteed to get so much attention and care from the school.
