I'm thinking about going to CUNY Hunter, but the one thing that bugs me is the lack of dorms/campus which really cuts back the social scene and partying aspect of college life. I feel like I would have trouble meeting people at Hunter because I wouldn't be living with them etc. Am I wrong?

I am bumping this for you. I got accepted for fall 2012 and still can not decide on what school I want to go to. I need info on the social life.

Curl, I visited a few times since I posted and talked to some students, the social life isn’t a problem as long as you join some clubs or teams or something, since there are hundreds of clubs

I know this is an old thread but anyone else have more recent experiences with Hunter social life and making friends there?
It’s a commuter school, most kids commuting went to schools in various boroughs and all have their friends circles from High School. So it won’t be as easy as when everyone arrives on campus
and is in the same situation.
Also of course it’s in NYC, and even though the city has a lot to offer, it’s also expensive, and on average the student body at Hunter isn’t privileged so it’s hard to afford what the city has to offer.
Having said that, young people tend to figure things out!
