I applied to CUNY late, which I wouldn’t have bothered with except the website said they were still taking applications and I called the particular school I’m interested in (Queens College) and the admissions people said “definitely put in”. Anyways, that was 6 weeks ago or so. I know they’re notoriously slow in their admissions process and until today the “Status Checker” website said “Your application has been received. Wait 8-10 weeks from the time you submit your supporting documentation (transcripts, etc)”. As of today, it says “According to our records, you have already applied to The City University of New York on April XX, 2013 for Fall 2013.” Then it goes on to ask if I want to defer my application till Spring Semester 2014. So what does this mean with regards to a decision on my Fall app? It doesn’t say I was accepted, rejected, keep waiting, decision in progress, none of that. Anyone with experience with this? To me it sounds like they’re still making a decision and for some reason just now updated the status checker to say “You’ve already applied. Do you want to move your app back?” but maybe it means I was rejected for Fall semester? Please, if you’re just going to say “Most colleges don’t accept people who apply late” don’t even bother. Thanks guys!

Why don’t you call and track down the answer? That seems the best and most efficient route vs. looking for strangers’ opinions. Tell them their website updating is very unclear and to please look up your status. It’s in their and your best interest to know where you stand. Good luck

I don’t want to bother/rush the good people down at the admissions office! Given the sheer number of applications they process, the wait isn’t surprising. It just seems like other people might have experienced this themselves in their CUNY app process.
