Curie Academy

I applied to the Curie Academy a few months ago and won't be finding out if I got in for a few more weeks.

Does anyone know how difficult it is to be accepted?

They "encouraged" minority girls to apply and I am not a minority. Will that ruin my chances? I really want to do this.

what is this you speak of...

<a href="http://www.engineering.cornell.edu/diversity/office-diversity-programs/summer-programs/highschool-programs/curie-academy/index.cfm%5B/url%5D">http://www.engineering.cornell.edu/diversity/office-diversity-programs/summer-programs/highschool-programs/curie-academy/index.cfm</a>
its a program that encourages girls to purse the sciences mainly engineering, i don't think it will ruin your chances just bc they state a peferece for minorities, they probably only do that to show they are diverse or want to become diverse bc not many minorities apply to such programs, don't worry about it

My daughter, a non minority, was accepted into the program 3 years. We were only called because they had a cancellation, think we heard in June, about 3 weeks before the start date.

The program was wonderful. If you have any interest in Cornell it is worth it just to experience the campus. She loved the girls, there were 40, and the opportunity to do a research type project with a small group. Food was wonderful, the dorm was really nice (in North), and pretty good leadership, all at a good price.

Was it hard to get in? My daughter was #2 in a class of 700, and had done 2 independent research projects. Nothing else besides that, orchestra and track.

If you get in, it's really worth the time.

My daughter just got her letter today for the Curie Academy. Said she was one of ony 25 students accepted! Good luck to everyone else that applied.

Has anyone been accepted and decided to attend the Curie Academy in July? It would be fun to get a "preview" of who is attending.

Yes I got accepted! I'm soooo excited.

Does anyone have any idea how many applied to this program?
Just curious.

Yea i'd like to know too...being 1 of 25 picked from how many?
