Curious about next years chances

I am a junior in high school and i really need help now on decided where to put my efforts, and i want to apply to UVA ed

Heres what Ive got

All G/T (highest class available for the grade at the time) except math in 9th + 10th
AP for U.S. hist, Eng and honors (second highest level) math and phys in 11th
Next year i am taking AP gov, euro, eng, and psych and honors math and sci

PSAT=181 ( i know its way too low but it was an off day (My projected was 195)) i intend to have it to 2000 when i take it maybe a bit higher
And i am signing up to take 2 or 3 SAT II's

High school is pretty competitive public in MD, just missed the newsweek rankings several years in a row

GPA (last time i checked in sophmore year)= top 15% on the nose (58/389)
3.31 uw and 4.19 w (i should have all of these moved up b/c the ap's are worth a point more and ive done pretty well and more kids come to my school this year)

Year round lax from 9th-11th grade except for 11th grade spring(didnt play for varsity but am trying out next year) and co-capitan of my jv team both years

Golf-9th and trying out next year

Young republicans club, which i am very interested in as i want to go into a career in politics (hopefully going to take over the president's position next year) 11th grade and next year

Student Sharing Coalition (a community service organization in MD) in which i am more than moderately active -11th grade and next year

Oh and i have a job got it this past summer

I know i have a lot of if's and things to accomplish next year, but that included, what would my chances be

Your chances aren't great, especially as an OOS applicant. Your psat score indicated that your SAT score won't be amazing, and your GPA/rank aren't particularly great, either. Even if you were instate, I'd guess that you wouldn't get in. If I were you, I'd apply early to UMD.

my rank was worse than yours (150/900) but my gpa was higher than yours (3.45 uw). also, my psat was solid (213) and my sat was solid (2140 700cr 700m 740w). i also had tons of ec's and i'm half hispanic. and as an out of state acceptee, i can't believe i got in. so, my take on it is, apply if it's your dream school because it doesn't hurt to try, but keep in mind that if you do get in, you'll be super lucky to get in like me.

But for every applicant like you, dearkonstantine, there are 20 who get dinged.

haha cav302 i totally realize that. not only did i get lucky though with uva, but i got lucky with william and mary, michigan-ann arbor (they even offered me a scholarship), and i was even waitlisted at cornell. so, my point is, you never know with college admissions. you could get lucky once or you could get lucky with many different colleges.

i'm also out of state (florida)

Also, this poster has not indicated he is a a urm, so the cases are incomparable. Hispanic students are generally compared against each other than against the overall applicant pool.

thanks for the responses. also yea im not a urm im just a reular old white kid but im just wondering if you guys thought i meight have chance with a 2000 sat and maybe a 4.3-4.5 weighted (therefore a higher rank too) because thats what im shooting for by the end of this year

The weighted GPA is irrelevant out of context. For their purposes, you have a 3.3 and you're not ranked in the top 10% of your class.
