But the thing is... that next year I'm going to be a junior and basically its my final year to prove myself.
Personal Situation:
Emotionally and verbally abusive father during freshman year, thus throwing me into a state of depression; Summer of freshman year parents get separated, mom puts restraining order on dad... limited visitation throughout sophomore year... dad refuses to pay support... mom doesn't work... single parent household... summer (this summer) dad abandons us and stays in another country indefinitely.

For those of you who read through all that, thanks. I know it was long. Anyway, my first choice for college is UCLA. I know my grades are not at ALL what they look for in applicants. And truly, that C in math second semester was a real let down... but at one point my mind just stopped focusing on school and it drifted off into my family situation. I don't know how much my personal situation will account for anything when it comes time to apply... but I just want to have someone's imput- do I still have a shot? And if I do, what do you guys think would be good to strengthen my application? Junior year is my last shot. I'm going to give it my all and try to get straight A's. If any of you have any ideas or comments, I would greatly appreciate them.

Thank you so much for reading through all that :)

PS: I don't know how much this affects anything... but I'm a South Asian female in Southern California.

starrynight:

Need UC GPA, SAT scores, class ranking.

i get my report card in a few days- ill put that down then. also, idk if you caught it but i'm a sophomore going to be a junior so i don't have sat scores as of now.

huh, wut do you get on your report card? u already posted you grades for sophmore year?

haha yeah i know my final grades but i need the report card which shows me my rank and gpas

o, dats kool, we dont have that at all, all we get is our final grades

dude...your situation is too complicated...man....i do not know what to say....just one thing. RELAX.....one thing i should add is that u got too many b's in regular classes....

haha k ill try to relax... but with admissions these days idk! oh those b's were in honors classes... but yeah i know its bad still

we need the UC gpa. take ur freshman out..they dont look at it for caluclations

you have a class called "Academic Decathlon"?

k ill get the gpa asap. yeah academic decathlon counted as a class... it was like preparing for the competition

ok well i guess my school decided to be lame and didnt write anyone's uc gpa down on their report card. but my weighted gpa for this year turned out to be 4.09 if that does anything.
