Short answer is yes - something like no tax I think? I haven't paid too much attention - I just know we pay slightly less than non-students.

So true Jinobi! Once, they had chicken for lunch, and the same thing for dinner. The dried up chicken is terrible. Food was miserable, but some of the international students actually thought it was paradise. :|

Yeah, please be professional with your UCLA email address. A lot of people regret using bbyx or azn in their email addresses. I think it would be best to use your ucla.edu email address in your resume (at least during your undergraduate years), so be wise.

Dammit! first.last@gmail.com is taken ):<

And last.first@gmail.com...

And firstinitial.last is too short. Lame!

hey do u have an alias for ur ucla email??

mine was my last name and 87. i changedit to firstname.lastname@ucla.edu ... and send it from that address from gmail.<,3,3,3

Thanks for answering our questions! Mine got lost in the shuffle, so here it is again.

I was wondering about the parking situation at UCLA for freshman. Is it even possible to get parking through the University? If not, do you know of any semi-safe lots nearby that I can pay to leave my car at?

I posted this on the honors thread, but it hasn't received any responses, so here it is. thanks in advance!

"I'm still confused: along with the GPA/SAT requirement mentioned above for incoming freshman, there is also an essay? Assuming you meet the "statistical" requirement, and write the essay, what are your chances of getting into honors? Do they pretty much admit everyone who qualifies?"

vc08,

Pretty much 100%.

taketothewind199,

Parking is based on a point system. The chances depend on your circumstances. If you can't get it on-campus, there are other options, but they all mostly suck.

sweet, thanks ucla!

also i like to add that parking really isn't that necessary once you get here, this isn't highschool in the middle of no where... you'll spend most of your time on campus or on "the hill" -- residential halls/plazas unless you live in apartment... you can get good food and do some basic shopping at Westwood which is walking distance and it cost 25 cents to take a bus to like 3rd street in Santa Monica...

Thanks UCLAri! I went online and looked at the point system in place, but I've yet to check out parking in Westwood. I heard that you're right about it though-- poor quality, high prices.
And to kick53rv3, I agree with you that the transportation system they have in place with UCLAgo is efficient, and Westwood is a great area (3rd street promenade is really fun too!). I'm just considering a freelancing job next year that will require me going to a lot of different locations around LA, and I'm trying to work out the logistics.

oh then use that as your excuse to get a parking permit... i think people with jobs that require a car gets much higher priority than just some random dude that wants a car to go home in during weekends...

How hard is to get an A in engineering (I'm considering bioE, materialsE, and mechE)?
