Current Bruins Taking Questions! (Housing, Campus Life, Majors, etc.)

hey, you should check out vtecaddict's thread on housing... (it's stickied...)

speaking of housing, it looks like rieber will be undergoing renovation and won't be open for housing next school year according to housing.ucla.edu

Cool, well at least Sproul will be open. I'll be in there for Session C, so I can let you guys know how it is.

rieber will be open for session A (i think)...its either that or rieber terrace. then session C is only sproul

i'm actually going to commute for summer school...lol

Pff, Terrace is never open. Terrace and Vista are reserved for Orientation.

I'm commuting all summer, too.

...If I give up, will it be really hard to get housing for sproul, or find a sublease near campus? :(

UCLA Bruins - Tickets

You can buy different packages for student tickets. All packages include football and some include some or all basketball tickets (there's a lottery for basketball tickets). If you don't end up buying a package but still want to sit in the student section, you can have a friend who does have a Den Package to buy you a guest pass for only football games (not available for basketball) or you might be able to buy a one-time student ticket from CTO (but I'm not sure about this one cuz most people I know that attend the games already have packages).

Also, don't forget to buy your Rooster Bus Tickets if you dont have a car / ride to the Rose Bowl. CTO sells them the week of the game, and the last day to buy them are 4pm Thursday before the game. Its $5 for roundtrip.

Pretty much The Den student section is the most awesome thing ever! =) I'd encourage you to also think about getting one of the packages with Basketball tickets as well. Not to say that the football games aren't exciting, but how can you NOT want to attend the basketball games of a team that is about to go to the FINAL FOUR for the third time in a row (HOPEFULLY! crosses fingers)!!! Also, its super fun because students camp out overnight outside of Pauley Pavilion for good basketball seats.

wont be too difficult finding a sublease.

mme-lin, thanks for your willingness to answer questions..
do you know any theater majors? we're from OOS..any information you could provide about the major and how people like it would be great.. we've never been to campus and are hoping to visit in a couple of weeks..any advice about what we should see besides the theatre/film school would be great..should we take the 2 hour tour??

Hi! Thank you so much. I have 2 questions. I got into LA w/ Pre Business Economics as my major. Could you tell me about the program and give me some tips to get ahead? Or at least survive. Hahah.

Also, what is the cost difference with housing. e.g. hall, plaza, suite. Is it substantial? I want to submit my housing application but I don't know enough about it to make a decision yet.

It'll come up! Might as well answer now!

mme-lin, did you gain the freshman 30?

No. I actually lost about 10lbs.

I was skinny before... and then became a stick. Now, I'm just fattening up from living in an apartment. ^o^

I have a question.. I know it's random but when we make our UCLA log-on s/n to see our financial aid or w/e will that also be our EMAIl too?

Yes, it will.

so like the tradition goes, we have to buy our "special teachers" t-shirts etc etc from the college we're going to...
is there like some student discount at the student store or is the price the same for a non-student and a student? I'm talking about like flags, shirts, sweaters, etc.
