UCLAri, can u read my thread w/0 replies and help me out. I'm falling apart.

THANK YOU SO MUCH UCLAri. I was being sarcastic about that workers comp. LOL. It turns out that my counselor did indeed miscalculate my UCLA gpa. LMAO. My admission was withdrawn last Friday partly because of this error. She said my UCLA GPA is a 2.85 when it is really a 3.28. I can't believe this happened. Wouldn't she know that if my UCLA GPA was 2.85, i would have never been admitted to BIzecon. Christ!!! Well thanks again. W/o you, there is a possibility my ignorance would have made my chances for re-admission impossible.

MChowder,

Go ahead and talk to admissions at UCLA. I'm sure they can work something out.

I know i'm not going to call my designated counselor. Boy, what great help she was. I also wanted to ask u if an "I" i got in calc2 (winter semester, its a pre-req) will make my re-admission impossible. I plan to take it when the spring students take their final on June 8th. I want to mention that Incomplete grades are not given unless there is a extreme circumstance which makes it impossible for the student to complete the class, and they are not given if the current grade is below a "C". I also want to mention that the final is the only thing i need to finish for this class.

Oh, and is there actually a committee that reviews admitted student applications to decide whether to withdraw their admissions? My counselor told me she was sending mine to one, but u can see y i am very skeptical of this statement. I believe she never sent it to a committee, and she was the person who decided to withdraw my admission.

Anyone know of a Chipotle in Westwood near UCLA? Is it walking distance?

This question may not seem terribly important, but believe me, it is.

Best. Question. Ever. Seriously I thought the same thing myself, but never really wanted to ask. Check this out: http://www.chipotle.com/mapquest/advantage.asp?transaction=search&country=us&template=map_search&city=Los%20Angeles&stateProvince=CA&width=415&height=350&iconid=500&zoomLevel=6&maxSearchResults=30&radius=150 I just found that

might want to center it at 90024. downtown is a pretty long ways away from UCLA. ;)

hey, i was accepted to UCLA under biophysics, which is in L&S. my questions are:

1) how hard is it to transfer from L&S into HSSEAS for bioengineering? is it possible to do this at orientation, or do i have to go through the whole process once classes start?

2) if i finished the equivalents for math 31A, 31B, 32A, and 32B at a CC, would i be at a disadvantage in terms of math foundations for 33A and 33B?

is a later orientation date really detrimental for signing up for the classes you want? are you not going to get the classes you want if you're going in one of the middle, last dates? cant you sign up for classes online by yourself?

no it doesnt matter really cc kids are just too anal about these things

I can't really find this addressed anywhere in UCLA forums, so forgive me if the advice has already been delt.
I have a car and live in the San Fernando Valley. I am not planning on taking my car to UCLA. I'd love to go visit my friends up north in San Francisco once a month ish.. or maybe every 6 weeks depending. Is that practical in terms of workload... and what do you think my best option of transportation is? Train? Bus? Hitch a ride to SF from a UCLA Bruin? Get a ride home then drive to SF?

Thanks for the input I know alot of Berkeley students come down to SoCal alot and hitch rides so I was hoping it might be visa versa... though there are few UCLA parking spots so I'm sure less cars.

no for incoming freshmen u have to sign up at orientation - theres no other way.

confused u may be right about anal CC, but going to 1st orientation gives us best chcances for the best professors, classes, and class times.

i'm planning to go to CC for one year (i'm also taking summer school, have max of 32 ap credits, and have made sure everything is transferrable). if i'm majoring in something like bio or physio science, there is no GPA req to get in like comm or biz/econ right? so if i have only three more lower division classes to take at la, will it hurt my GPA?

say i am successful at achieving this. will double majoring be easier? i plan to double major in studio art or design my own major (something similar to fashion design). how hard is it to do this?

i'm more interested in human bio and the less mathy part of science... interested in dermatology and nutrition.. should i study bio or physio if i plan to apply to med school? if i decide to switch something, would bio be a wiser choice because it's more broad? i also realize that i can major in something i really ENJOY, but will it be harder for me to find jobs/internship opps if i am not a science major but, say, a dance major?

where can i find a list of classes/study abroad programs/research programs/etc that satisfies the honors program requirements?
btw, i plan to study abroad for three summers.. if that counts for anything.

and i'm giving up san diego to transfer to LA. any advice on whether this is a wise decision or not? although UCSD has a stellar science program, i'd rather go there for grad school and too many students are premed there.. also worried that competition and science classes will be harder... SD also does not have as much art and culture that LA has (college and area) which is very important to me. i also have other reasons for making this decision... i SIRed to SD, but if you have any advice, please share!!

oh, btw, i'm really considering USC, so try to sway me away from this decision if you can.. both are really great universities in similar and different ways. i've heard enough USC (and UCLA) bashing and whatnot, so please.. facts!!

THANKS!!

Click on the "College/School" for more information.

why arent you going to san diego??? rankingwise, its almost as good as UCLA. premed may be cuthroat there, but it aint gona be much better at ucla. i mean,f ollow your dream...

the thing is i am studying physio for backup.. fashion design and acting are my real passions and dream jobs.. i don't want to regret being stuck at SD for four years... i love the arts and the city of la has that diversity and culture about it that sd just lacks

oh yeah.. my parents are very chinese and i am first generation so there is no way i will just go to fashion design school.. i plan to get a degree through a one year program at fashion institute of tech in NY after i get my BS or go to med school
