current college freshmen unhappy with your school?

Just wondering if there any freshmen out there who are dissatisfied with the school they are currently attending. I know I am and hopefully transferring out for Fall 2009. I don't think I fit in here..

Yeah, I'm unhappy. Can't really decide if I want to transfer or not - one day I'll be miserable and thinking there's no way I could stay here, then another day I'll actually have a good day and think that maybe I don't really want to leave - I'm a sports team which is part of the reason I'm kind of holding back. I dunno...I'm gonna give it a little while longer before I start sending out apps and stuff, but I've been looking into other schools. In my group of friends there are 2 others thinking about transferring out, too and I know a lot of other people that are talking about it.

I'm sort of like hj0519, minus the sports team. But I sorta have a slight ego problem and don't really want to transfer "down" and with my GPA from first semester, there's very little chance of staying at a similar or higher level. So I'm not really sure what to do :( Too bad I can't either REALLY love it or REALLY hate it, lol.

^ Yeah, I'm worried about my GPA, too. Compared to the other people on CC, who's "horrible disastrous" GPA's are like a 3.5, I did worse than disastrous, lol.

Any explicit reasons for transferring? For me, I don't like the atmosphere. I don't feel I fit in. Sometimes I feel my college is too big and I sometimes feel lost. BTW, any of you heard of University of Rochester? Know how hard it is to transfer there? I'm thinking about it

My main reasons are size and academic offerings, which is kind of a spinoff of size. I thought I wanted a small school after going to a super small high school, but I've realized that I really don't. Plus at a small school there are less majors offered and less classes offered for the majors there are, and I keep looking on other college websites and seeing the sweet classes I could be taking if I had applied to different schools and actually looked at what schools had to offer when I applied. Seriously, I was stupid when I applied. I got a list from my college counselor, picked five to apply to, and when it was all over I had 3 to choose from, 2 that I didn't want to go to (one was my super safety, one was too close to home).

I've never heard of University of Rochester. It says on collegeboard that out of 805 fall transfer applicants, 206 were admitted. So it had around a 25% transfer admissions rate.

I love Ohio University, but I have always wanted to go to Ohio State, the only thing to do here is drink which i don't mind, and our athletics suck. Also, you have to live on campus for 2 years until you can live off campus which is kinda lame.

I'm in the same boat as much of you all. I just finished my transfer app and I recommend that if you're considering transferring, you should fill out apps asap because deadlines are coming up. you don't want to be left with no options at all by the end of the year.

kev, for what it's worth, I too was unhappy at BU, and ultimately transferred out after a semester.

Haha, and funny thing is I actually almost wish I was at BU (was accepted, but ultimately decided not to attend) instead of USC at this point. But oh well.

I'm a little disappointed because my roommate smells, he drinks and smokes (I asked for chemical-free dorming), and my suitemates are seniors and moving out after the semester. Everything else seems okay though.

akalboy - wanna swap schools?

Haha, wish it was that easy to do, lol. But truthfully, I think part of my problem is that I still am stuck on wanting to be at NYU. Gah, but I've attempted to make the best of USC, so we'll see.

Haha, we can only wish. If I were in USC, I'd be so close to home. So good. If you're ever transferring, good luck.

LOL, I'm from NJ, so Boston is a lot closer for me than USC. But good luck to you as well if you decide to transfer :)
