Current community college student looking for transfer suggestions

Background information about me:

I was diagnosed with a rare medical condition during high school which put me in the hospital quite frequently. Nobody expected me to graduate high school on time, but I did. My high school GPA was around 3.6. I never took the SAT or ACT and decided to live at home and attend community college in case I had to be hospitalized again.

My fall semester at community college I earned all A's and one A-.

My spring semester I unfortunately ended up in the hospital again, had two surgeries, and subsequently had to withdrawal from all of my classes. (Does anyone know how having a full semester of W's will affect me when transferring?)

I'm currently doing much better health wise, and I re-took two of the courses I was enrolled in during the spring as summer classes and received A's in both (current GPA 3.96). I will be attending community college for either one more semester or one more year, depending on schools that offer spring transfer vs. fall transfer.

My major at community college is Biology. When I transfer I would like to major in something along the lines of molecular/cell/developmental biology. I would ultimately like to attend medical school after college.

I'm a New York resident and member of Phi Theta Kappa, various other clubs, and have a significant amount of volunteer hours.

Looking for transfer school suggestions (in and out of state) that do not require SAT or ACT scores. Ideally I would like to attend a well-funded research university with opportunity to get involved in research as an undergrad.

tl;dr
Got sick in high school, didn't take SAT or ACT, went to community college, had to withdrawal from all classes second semester due to being sick, healthy now, 3.96 GPA, wanna go to med school eventually, NY resident, PTK member, looking for transfer school suggestions in and out of state.

I think you have a good chance at some of your instate SUNY’s, but I’m not familiar enough with the SUNY’s to really offer you good advice on which schools to apply (which are strongest for your particular program of interest…). I only looked at Purchase and New Paltz, so know very little. Maybe ask this question in the New York State college forum:

Your transfer essay could be incredibly well done to explain your W’s/illness, and lead into your goals to head to medical school…it gives you a lot “to work with” and explains the W’s at the same time. It’s not unusual for colleges to see some W’s, and they are forgiven in situations such as yours. Don’t dwell on it too much in your essay --it’s a fine line of explaining the situation without over-doing it. Focus much more so on your current goals and the passion behind wanting to study biology (show some altruism, but not over the top “crusade”?)
