My story, please help

Hello all, i've found that this site has been very helpful for others so i gave it a shot.

I'll be honest i slacked in H.S ( and not slacking as in still got a 3.3 GPA, which is what i sometimes read on these threads)..I got a 2.6 GPA, but got a 1710/2400 on the SAT..which i think for a kid with my grades, i did decently well.

I just started my second semester of Community in Westchester, New York. In the first semester i got a 3.47 GPA (.3 away from deans list grrr), but i KNOW i can do better, i see myself getting more along the lines of a 3.6-3.8 this second semester.

I cant stand community college so hear are some questions

is there any way i can transfer out after one year?

If i do apply for fall 2010, i'll most likely be only showing them one semester of college work correct?

Anybody have suggestions for me such as colleges to look at such as SUNYs or any other cheaper public schools. And does anyone think i can make it out of my community college after one year with around a solid 3.5 GPA, 32 credits (16 for first semester, 16 for the second) a weak H.S GPA, and decent SAT score

i would suggest waiting another year for the more selective SUNYs, but some of the less selective ones would definitely be possible. you could try cobleskill, potsdam, cortland, oswego, or old westbury

I can only repeat what ironicallysure said in her post. 3.47 at a CC will not give you good options for a sophomore transfer. So, stay in CC for another year and try to improve your GPA.
