Franco, who’s taking over Sheine as ARC Dpt. head?

franco101,
I am crossing my fingers you are right since CPP is my first choice. Thank you for replying your input is appreciated.

Thank you Caldud and Franco both very much, helped alot

Ill be sure to have more questions soon

Petrarch, I’m not sure, but I’ve heard here and there that Lorenzen might take Sheine’s place.

Hopefulgrl2013, you are welcome!

Dimas, no problem. I will do my best to answer future questions!

Franco, thanks. I think Sarah would be the logical choice. Good luck to Judith heading the department at U of O. Honestly I think she’s getting too old at Pomona. Time for new talent!

what banks are on Cal Poly Pomona’s Campus?

Petrarch, I can confirm that Lorenzen is the new department head! It was announced to us today in studio. I’ve also heard great things about her, and I am looking forward to the next five years.

Angels2013, there is only one ATM on campus, and that is the F&A Credit Union.

Thank you for offering your help! I you have a question. My application status says “Incomplete” and pending English and Math placement test, however my SAT are 550 math, and 630 reading, doesn’t that means I should be exempt from taking the placement test? My status is been like that for weeks, should I contact the campus? Will the admission decision be delayed because of this?

is this a commuter school? how lively is the campus after 6pm mon-sun? what are the popular frats? how good is the food on campus? is the campus long board friendly as in how hilly can the campus be? how far is costco, walmart, wholefoods, traderjoes from main campus? where do people usually buy groceries?

yes this is a commuter school. it isnt too lively after 6pm. the food is decent, but as always it can get tiring after eating it every week ([Dining Services](http://www.foundation.csupomona.edu/dining/)). the campus is very friendly to boarders as there are many slopes. costco/walmart is about 15 mins away.

Yeah, it is a commuter school, but it’s not as bad as it used to be. The new suites are centrally located and are pretty sweet. Including the people that live in the dorms, suites and the village, there’s a decent size community on campus and one of the largest in the CSU. They’ve also added many dining options including a Denny’s as well as healthier options. Personally I like going off campus for some good Asian food in Diamond Bar and City of Industry. There are finer restaurants in the Claremont area.

what are the popular clubs on thursday night?

Hey guys. I was applying for fall 2014. Transfer junior. I was wondering are there many junior transfers who stay on campus? Dorms or suites or whatever or do they mostly commute. I mean I only live 10 min away but livin on campus/out of the house is appealing to me.

Hi pavingpath…I attended an open house event with my daughter (incoming freshman) at Cal Poly Pomona today. You might want to find an upcoming event… The student volunteers are a wealth of info there. They are great! Met a graduating senior that sought out the dorms after constantly driving 25 minutes to/from school as a engineering major once he transferred. We missed the dorm tour but hear there are a couple of newer ones there. It can transform your experience by living on campus and being involved with activities other than classes. REALLY impressed with the campus and the professors and students… OCmomof3

Sorry, guys. I have been extremely busy with work lately. Every waking moment was spent on work, but I’ve managed to make some time to check in to here.

Pavingapath, transfers usually have apartments or live in the Village, which is across Temple Avenue from campus. You can definitely apply to the suites, which is conveniently located near the intramural fields, gymnasium, Denny’s, Vista Market, and a short walk away from the Bronco Student Center and the bookstore!

Nujabes, Cal Poly Pomona is definitely a commuter school. However, the school is coming up with ways to change that, such as requiring freshmen to live on campus, and building new amenities. Sadly, the commuter status will likely remain because of the location of the school and its proximity to various highly populated cities. After 6PM, the campus slows down drastically, but there is always activity within the dorms or the suites. Peak hour would be around noon time on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The food on campus is decent to good, but after a while, you’ll quickly get tired of it. They do a good job at switching up the foods being offered at the dining hall, and I appreciate them very much for doing so. Long-boarding on campus is great. Most paths to classrooms are paved well, but there will be the occasional awkward crack. I have never taken a trip to Walmart, Costco, or Wholefoods, but there is a big shopping center down Valley, and Target is also not too far away by car or by bus. People who live in the dorms usually eat at Los Olivos because they have the meal plan.

I too am a freshman here, and everything that franco has said is correct. My credentials arent as good as his, but I somehow got in.

High School GPA: 3.4
Community Service- None
Sports- Soccer, XC, Track
SAT: 590 Reading/Writing, 520 Math
ACT: 28 (Would have been 30 if not for math)

Lol franco, I think my roommate is an architect with you. Poor guy never gets a break.

Kids, a couple things you should know:

Be prepared for a huge step up in work and classes. High school was a breeze for me, but college requires your full attention.
Weekends are dead here. Almost everyone goes home.
Be aware of the freshman 15. I’ve gained 7 lbs in the first quarter.

Adding to the credentials, I was in 4 AP classes (8 if honors count), and passed 3 AP exams. Top 20% in my class.

One last thing:

STUDY FOR YOUR DAMN MIDTERMS. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. I was one of those kids that learned everything in high school and didn’t worry, but if you go to a midterm with that attitude you will fail. C’s may have been fine in high school, but it will screw you over here.

Vapor, what major?
