Hello,
I remember browsing this site 4 years ago when I was researching schools, and for better or worse, I think a lot of people still use the site to research universities, so I figured I would give back a bit and help out.
I’m a current fourth year economics major at UChicago, I recently accepted a job for after graduation in finance in new york, and I’ve been lucky to have some really cool experiences at UChicago.
I’ve spoken with a lot of other friends from both public and private schools from all across the country, and I have realized/concluded that UChicago truly is a transformative experience. I think most people at UChicago have their worldview significantly changed many times through learning experiences inside and many times, outside of the classroom. I’m not saying that this doesn’t sometimes happen at other schools, but UChicago is a unique and special school, although I might be a little bit biased!
Happy to answer any questions from students or parents about any aspect of the school, either publicly or privately! I’ve focused on economics, but I am very familiar with taking Booth classes, and I used to have an obsession with the Core, so I know a lot about that.
Best of luck and try not to stress about college applications too much! In the grand scheme of the universe, it all works out.
