current freshman answering questions

AMPH007 - There are a lot from the Northeast, but there are plenty from the west, including the Pacific Northwest. Tulane has more students from 500+ miles away than any other school in the country. It isn’t where you are from that will determine how you fit in, but who you are. I have no doubt you would be fine.

collegehopeful - I can say with extreme confidence that the dating scene is active and just like almost every other college campus in the country.

I know Tulane’s gay male population is pretty active/high, but what about the lesbian population?

Also, any insight on the ROTC programs on campus?

@AMPH007: Representing the PNW as well! OR! Considering Tulane very seriously…native Oregonian but have always felt a very strong connection to/affinity for the South.

chaymck: Can you speak to the safety on campus and in New Orleans in general? I’m an independent female, but have a good head on my shoulders and wouldn’t wander off alone or anything like that. I know that drugs/alcohol/crime have a presence to some degree on every college campus and in every big city, but what is the general sense about this at Tulane?

dating: people don’t really “date” for the most part in college, at least from what i’ve seen. most tulane students are more looking for hookups or flings versus long lasting relationships. that being said, however, there is a small population of students who do want to be more serious.

i don’t think this is just a tulane thing, i think it’s just part of being young and in college.

safety: yes, this is new orleans, things do happen. but, most of the crime reports that we get are about students who are ALONE at NIGHT. with some common sense, lots of these horrible situations and crimes can be avoided.
