Current premeds, should I place out of classes with my AP credit?

I'm planning on doing the ALP2 program, and I took AP exams in Calc AB, Bio, Mac Eco, Gov, and Eng. But I've heard that for premeds, its not always best to opt out of classes using AP credit because you'll end up taking harder classes instead, lowering your GPA, which is very important to med schools. Instead, you could take these classes anyway, so they wont be too hard and you'll get better grades. So what would all you current premed people recommend me doing? If there are certain classes out of the AP's I took that I should take again and certain ones that I shouldn't , which ones? Thanks for any help

And one more thing, I'm kinda confused about credits, hours, courses, semesters. What equals what? Like, how many credits/hours is one semester? I dont know. Please shed some light.

I would recommend taking the credit for English, Econ, and Gov - they'll test you out of things without necessarily putting you in harder classes. But I would consider not using the Bio or Calc credit.

Med schools do not accept AP credit for any science courses...i came in with 18 credits and because of that fact, i was only able to use 6 of them (calc 1 and 2)...i opted to retake calc at the school though as a refresher, and in fact i was planning on doing this for all my AP courses anyway...its really not a big deal kus it will help for the MCAT to take the courses at ND anyway
