Thanks for the addition, lki.

By the way, you're in SLE, you're in Band... Are you one of the SLE bonz?

How hard is it to double major in college? I want to take it easy my first quarter, but can I afford that if I plan to double major in International Relations and Biology?

yeah, i have the same question as davidsango, except im thinking about double majoring in econ and EE. how does that work out?

Econ AND EE? Wow, that's going to be A LOT of work.

well as of right now im pretty set on econ (planning to go the finance/banking route) but that seems to be the goal of every econ student at every major university. econ being a popular major, im afraid competition will be so stiff in the workplace that im gonna be left behind in the jobhunt...
i dunno, i just feel like i need engineering to fall back on
then again, i still dont understand enough about the requirements for each major, so i might change my mind in the end...

um...any current students on the staff of the Stanford Daily? How much time does it take on a daily basis? Would it be suicide for a premed major to try to join the staff? biting nails
thanks, guys.

Sly Si,
No, the SLE bonz can actually play. I'm a SLE tenr (go tenrz!). Interestingly enough, we started off with three SLE tenrz this year, but then one joined a capella and the other one just sucks

In response to Purplerain666,
I don't personally write/work for the Daily, but I know people who do. There's no reason you couldn't. Don't misunderstand the nature of the college workload - it's hard, but definitely not impossible - and it is normal to have plenty of time for activities and fun.
And it's not like premeds that big a deal - a math course, some physics, some chem, some bio and baddabing, baddabum, get a philosophy degree and ship off to medschool.

are there lots of politically active liberals around? any prominent groups on campus that have rallies and sit-downs or anything? any politically famous professors?
also, is it really true that stanford's overall atmosphere is lacking in deep intellectual debate - read that somewhere in this forum. i don't really see how that's possible since we're the best people on earth in the best place on earth, but maybe...i dunno.
thankx

Atticus, if it's true, then you and I will have enough intense political debates to cover for all of the other lazy Trees.

Question for the current students - is the work-study program organized well? What kind of jobs are there, and how are they?

What happens if you fall ill? Is there a hospital or something?

Thanks

The student health insurance fully covers any expenses at the Stanford Hospital, one of the best anywhere. I had a $20,000 bill there once for which I only paid $10.

Awesome! I just got out of bed after 7 days with a 104 fever...so had to ask :)

i was wondering if some of the stanford students could post a brief summary of their daily schedules
i saw this on the college life forum a while ago, and i thot it'd be interesting to see it from a stanford perspective

"10: abandon math homework out of sense of desperation"
im scared...

hehe, check out our math homework:

someone, don't try to scare these kids away!

i dont even understand the english behind the math, let alone the math itself

Yeah, that math problem set is definitely not normal. That's from the 50H series (the H stands for either "honors" or "hardcore"), which you only take if you really really love math. As a side note, if it makes you feel any better, it actually wasn't nearly as hard as it looks once you get over the initial reaction to it.
