I’m applying to one of my dream school, but there’s only one problem: my “enemy” goes there. She always seemed to hate me, and I’m afraid if she can have any negative impact on my admission. Do the faculty ever talk to the current students if an applicant is from a same high school/or know the student? Any ideas on current students’ influence on admission in any level?
My guess is she would have to go out of her way to talk to them about you, and then who knows what goes on behind the curtain. Just do your best. But who needs a built-in enemy? Seems that would make the school less than dream-y.
Is she really your enemy or do you compete head to head with her on roles? Remember, as you probably already know life is short. It’s a really small industry you might want to mend fences and move on now. I’d apply anywhere you want. The “theater gods” will decide if you’ll end up at your dream school or for that matter any school. You worry about being prepared, your grades and everything will fall into place. There’s no time to worry about if your sworn enemy is trashing you to the auditors. Take heart and go for your dream school.
I do know that students who work with audition can have an influence, they report back on auditionees behaving badly, that sort of thing. But how on earth would one student know someone from there home was auditioning unless you told them, posted on social media, that sort of thing? I don’t think students get a chance to read the hundreds of applications submitted. Besides, in my experience, college students have mostly let go of high school issues. It’s another segment of life. You might get there and find out this “enemy” is actually a really great person, or at least that you don’t have problems anymore. Bottom line, I wouldn’t let one person I didn’t like in high school determine the next phase of my life. Just my opinion
