alright, so this is a little unorthodox and is going to read like a really unsuccessful personals ad, but...
i'm a 2014 early admit coming up from the deep south (kinda) to visit chicago very, very soon.
apparently, i've managed to choose an arrival date and time that renders me ineligible for tours or class visits/sit-ins ... basically, the reasons i initially planned on visiting.

SO! with plane tickets having been purchased, i'm in a bit of a jam. if anyone would be able to perhaps show me around in the coming week, i'd really appreciate it. i'd really like to see the campus from a student's point of view and am pretty much just looking for someone who wouldn't mind toting me around for a few hours. it can even be less, if you tire of me. i don't care!!

just ... well, i don't really know how this college confidential thing works so i'm not sure if you can just message me? you can also post here, i suppose.
ahmm, whatever, here's my decoy/temporary e-mail address: staplercarrot@yahoo.com
we can discuss without pretenses once we've confirmed that we are both normal people with legit connections to the university of chicago.

despite the extreme weirdness of this post, i promise i'm not a creep. not much of a creep.
also, no serial killers, please.

Stapler, we offer tours and information sessions Monday through Friday beginning at 9:30am (with tour following at 10:30am) and 12:30pm (tour leaves at 1:30pm)- so unless you’re only here for the weekend, you will be able to grab one.
Check out https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/ for more information.

You’ll be able to do a tour and information session on Monday- come by our office by 9:30 or 12:30 on Monday and we’ll have a tour guide ready to show you around.

I’m glad you found someone to volunteer as an “unofficial tour guide.” From what I’ve heard (and correct me if I’m wrong), but some people on tours have said that the tours did not include going inside dorms. To me, seeing the inside of the dorms I was considering would be a major thing I’d want to find out on a campus visit.

So, if you’ve found a student to act as an “unofficial” guide–in addition to the “official” guides, who may have a greater amount of information, which you’ll know is up-to-date and accurate–it sounds like you’re all set! Enjoy!
