Current Year Courses? Question

What does the .5 mean when the app asks for:

Please indicate title, level (AP, IB, advanced, honors, etc.) and credit value of all courses you are taking this year (e.g. Honors English .5 credits). Indicate quarter classes taken in the same semester on the appropriate semester line . If you have already graduated from secondary school and are not currently enrolled in college, you should enter the courses from your final year of secondary school.

My transcripts says credit = 5.00 for each of my previous classes in my 9,10,11th grade grades. What is .5?

Thank you!

The most common credit for a high school course is 1.0 per year (0.5 per semester) but lots of schools have a different credit structure. You should report the credits consistent with the way they appear on your transcript and don’t use the 0.5 system if your school has a different system.
