currently 1870, need a Ivy level score

quick question, Is buying just the barrons 2400 just as good as buying barrons workbooks instead of the barrons 2400 book? I mean are the strategies covered in the barrons 2400 book the same as the strategies covered in the workbooks?

just wonderin...normally, do students who take the dec SAT (this yr 12/2) make it in time for jan deadlines?

yeah, if we take it in dec., can we still make it for the jan 1st deadline or is there something like we can send the scores later when they come in to complete the application

what is the title of the "Barron's Math Workout for the SAT"? that's not the title on amazon for sure . . . couldn't find it anywhere

December SATs usually make it to the schools. January SATs are the questionable ones --I know a few schools who did take the January SATs (by checking their website or calling up their admissions' office). Often times, the Dec. one will be the last one they take. In addition, although some schools say that they will not take the January SAT, be sure to have those scores sent right away after having taken the SAT and they may take a look at it.

The key here is to know all the deadlines for your schools. Look it up, call them up, whatever. Know the deadlines.

couple points on discussion above:

1400 won't get you ivy league, as new 2400 point test obvioulsly

you should relax though on SAT...grades, activities and geography factor in as much if not more

one-on-one tutoring is most effective way to raise SAT score in my experience

as to finding book on amazon, here's the link to amazon section on test prep

if you have an 1870, has the thought ever crossed your mind that maybe, perhaps, god forbid, you aren't meant to go to an Ivy?

I don't mean to question your decision or your attitude, crazyace, but if I were in your place, I would much prefer to spite the College Board by getting a low score AND getting into the school of my choice. Then again, that may be a lot harder to do, I don't know.

HEy well know there's hope! becore my last test i had an 1870 and my score jumped to 2070!

of course these are practice tests lol

excuse me if I'm ignorant, but what exactly is this "blue book"?

What is the Blue Book?

A) A monster
B) It goobles up little children
C) And goes boomp in the night

The correct answer is A. The blue book is an 889-page monster, published by the College Board and fingerpainted blue. It includes 8 practice SATs. You can buy it from quality bookstores all over the country. The title is: "The Official SAT Study Guide."

haha much thanks.... and btw, that description sure makes me excited! but I'll go check it out.

I highly recommend that Collegeboard SAT blue book. It helps. =)

I totally think you can do it...my first ever test was one of those Princeton Review Free SAT tests and I got a 1950 (i got a 4 on the essay which i thought was good because i thought it was out of 6 but it was actually out of 12 =O lol..) and then i did like no (only a little bit) studying during the school year and then took another free testing and got a 2040 (10 on the essay)! but yea now during the summer i've been studying and my score is up to like 2210...and im not even trying that hard. so if you try really hard then im sure you can pull off the 2300! =)
completely useless entry..but hey might help =D!
